This blog is started up to serve the community by creating the awareness of underprivillaged children around the Klang Valley. Hopefully in due time we are able to cover the whole of Malaysia. Earnings from this blog will entirely (that means 100%) be channelled to striving organizations which fight for this cause. All we're asking for is just one clique(click), or more. Karunaan is 10 and goes to school in SK Vivenkanada. He likes football and enjoys playing with the other boys in Agathians Shelter. Guess what?! Karunaan is a huge fan of the Chelsea Football Club.
His favourite food is ‘nasi goreng’ (fried rice) and when asked his ambition, he replied, “Askar!” (soldier) with a broad smile.

This sweetie pie is the younger brother of Shahkar, featured in the previous entry. Don’t they look as cute? J This little boy has such a sweet smiling face that would definitely capture your heart!
9 year old Devon is currently schooling in SK. Bukit Bintang and his favourite subject in school is Mathematics. He enjoys football as much as the rest of the Agathian’s boys. Devon wants to grow up to be a policeman. We hope he’d be a dedicated and rightful one that contributes to the community and nation.

This is a short story about a little boy named Nandakumar. He is only 10 this year and goes to the SK Bukit Bintang school. This cute little boy loves cricket and football. These seems like the only two sports these kids are really into. He's a blues fan by the way. He fancies nasi lemak too. Nandakumar wants to be a policeman when he grows up.

It's been a while since we have last featured the children from the Agathians Shelter, so we shall continue with one of the cutest around, Shahkar. Look, ain't he cute? Just makes you wanna pinch his cheeks, no?
Well, Shahkar is 11 and he studies in SK Bukit Bintang. He fancies cricket and football. His favourite subjects in school are english and maths. He didn't have a solid ambition yet at the time when we went to visit but we guess with his interests in maths and english could certainly lead him to find out what he wants to be in the future. It is only appropriate to give this young one an opportunity to dream.

At last we have our very first in-kinds donation to the Agathians Shelter by a corporate organization, Reckitt Benckiser (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd through one of their employees, Ms. Jasmine Low.

Tharuman is a 15 year old young man who want to be an engineer. On his path to that direction, he schools in SMK Bukit Bintang just like most of the boys here in the Agathians Shelter. Tharuman is a big fan of football and the Sony Playstation. Tharuman needs all the support he can get to achieve his dream, in terms of education and funding for it.
We need people to see that it is a huge effort to raise one child up till tertiary education when it comes to support and cost. Imagine doing this for 32 children.

OoOoHh..this cute one is unique. His name is Amaran. Even by the way he poses for the shoot, it gives you a vibe that he is showy. No doubt that is his unique quality. You should know, he wants to be a dance master. Amaran is 12 and enjoys dancing and drawing. Looks like it's someone who likes the performing and visual arts. We guess he would have the potential for KLPAC then. Who knows? Maybe in the coming 10 years you might see a star :D

Look out for Kesava! Kesava is a 11 year-old boy from SMK Bukit Bintang. Besides his studies, he is also actively participating in football and cricket. He indulges in chicken rice and nasi lemak. Kesava wants to grow up to be a policeman.

This young man here is Gunasegaran. He is 13 this year and studies in SMK Bukit Bintang. The wants to grow up to be a scientist. We could guess that he's really good at that subject in school else why would he want to be a scientist? He prefers chicken rice as a good meal. Gunasegaran's enjoys being active in track running and football. Besides, he's a Sony Playstation fan too.

Mariayappa is a 14 year old teenager with lofty dreams of becoming a doctor. Currently schools in SM Bukit Bintang, Mariayappa likes to be active with track running, tennis and football. Besides that, he enjoys a game of chess as well. Chicken rice would be his favourite food.
We couldn't agree more that if given enough support and opportunity, this young lad here would be able to persue his dreams and one day be a responsible member of society. This in turn could lead to a better community and country in the future.

We are looking for supporters who are willing to give us a helping hand. What we need from you is to spread the word about us. We know that this blog is still in its early in the development stage and we have only covered one home. Hopefully if all goes well, we'll be able to cover another home in the next month. We hope to continue this until we can create the necessary impact on this part of society in Malaysia.

They ain't brotha' from anotha' m0tha'...They really are sibblings! Meet Jeevanathan (right) and Ezra(left) . Ezra is 13 while his younger brother is 12. Both of them go to different schools. Jeevanathan schools in SK Vivenkananda while Ezra goes to SMK Seri Utama. We could see a lot of similarity and influency on the both of them. For example both loves nasi goreng and both of them wants to be scientists. It was actually the elder brother's idea but it caught on for the younger one :) One day we'd have a brothership-partnership science research team and who knows, with the suppoort of the community (that includes us!) they could achieve their dream and actually make a difference themselves. Favourite past time is football for the both of them. Like everyone else, Ezra roots for Man Utd while his brother Chelsea. Jeevanathan has something different though, he likes playing on the Sony Playstation. Scientists gotta play too, right?

This young man here is Loga. Loga goes to SRJK T Vivenkananda. He wants to grow up to be a policeman. We hope that he will be an honest and responsible one. Loga enjoys nasi lemak and like any other resident of the Agathians Shelter, he loves football. The funny thing is, he is a Man Utd and a Liverpool fan at the same time. Who's to say you can't choose both the big guns?

Say hello to this cute boy, Buddha. Yeah! That's right, his name is Buddha. This young one is only 8 just like Sarvin. He goes to SK Bukit Bintang and his hobbies are reading and football. He has a list of favourite clubs Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Wonder which he would root for if either two clubs were competing with each other? We got a really cute answer when we asked what his favourite food were. He likes vegetables, vegetable soup, and kicap mi hoon. Buddha wants to be a mechanic when he grows up. We guess an automobile engineer most probably. :D

This is Sarvin. He schools in SK Bukit Bintang. This cure little one likes badminton and football. Have we mentioned that the children in this home looves football? His favourite food and drinks are nasi lemak, orange juice and ribena. By the way, he's just 8 years old. When we asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up, he want's to be a policeman.

This is Prem. Prem is an active young boy who loves football and cricket. He too has a favourite football star, Christiano Ronaldo. He's 12 this year and schools in SK Bukit Bintang. His hopes and dreams is to become a great football player one day. This sounds like one of those soccer movies. Ah..just like Goal!The Dream Begins. Wonder if anyone remembers that movie..
It's about a little boy named Santiago Munez who lived in poverty and when he grew up, managed to get the opportunity to live his dream to play for Newcastle United. It's a really good movie by the way :)

Look out! Here comes Yuvarajan! He's a student of SRJK T Vivenkananda and he's 12 this year. This must definitely be a home for soccer fans cause' this chap's favourite footballer are Kaka and Ronaldo from Brazil! He loves everything about football. When we asked what his ambition was...ASKAR he excitedly replied. That's soldier in Malay. Nasi goreng or fried rice is his favourite food. Don't w eall just lovee the traditional fried rice :)

This is Shatiasilan. A young boy who loves Liverpool namely Gerrard and Torres. He also loves the Brazil football team, players include Kaka and Ronaldo. These kids in this home really know their football. We guess it's their home quality time activity together. Nasi lemak being his favourite food. Little Shastiasilan is 12 and goes to school in SRJK (T) Vivekananda. Besides being a football fan, he likes playing the sport too. He likes dogs as well. This child is really into a lot of interests. He likes story books and has a stamp collection. He has high dreams of becoming a lawyer one day and we hope he achieves that dream.

Check out this cheeky 12 year old boy, Garry Choon. He's studying in SRJK(C) Chen Moh and loves basketball. Shy at first but warms up very quickly and soon he was borrowing the camera to take shots of the other children. And just like the other kids, very indecisive about his favourite foods..to him it's Chinese food Garry one day wants to be a chef when he grows up. It's just our guess that he may be cooking chinese food :)

Basic IT skills training - The home is looking for IT geniuses, well not really. Just anyone who has the almost complete knowledge of teaching the children on how to use basic softwares like Word, Excel, and surfing the internet. There are 2 computers allocated in the home already for this purpose. All you need to do is be there and show them how to do it. It would be great if you could develop modules for them in this training.

Agathians Shelter, is a legally registered welfare home governed by Pertubuhan Kebajikan Agathians, Malaysia (registration number 0661-04-7). It currently operates at No.22, Jalan Kelah 8/6, Seksyen 8, 46050, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Agathians shelter has also obtained tax exempt status from the Inland Revenue Board, Malaysia. Reference number lhdn.01/35/42/52/179-6.5695 gazette 7230 (11th April 2005)
It houses 32 boys who are either orphans, abandoned, from single parent family or from broken family and are between the ages of 6 and 16 years old.
The home aims at providing them a new start in their lives, a life of childhood, a normal life any child would or should have but they didn’t due to the circumstances they were in.
What the organization does...
Other than the basic needs, Agathians Shelter ensures these children are sent to school. The children are given tutoring in house to catch up on missed years of schooling. For the elder children who have missed many years of schooling, we focus on teaching them the English and Bahasa Malaysia languages and Mathematics. We feel that these three are essentials for basic knowledge.
Besides the basics, we groom, discipline, and conduct character building sessions for these children. Some of these children were not even taught to bathe or brush teeth properly. The children are taught about the importance of time, responsibility, cleanliness and morale such as honesty and respect.
Besides these, the child is also supervised on cleanliness and proper behaviour such as no usage of foul language and violent behaviour which they pick up from their previous environment.
The children’s mental health is also not excluded. There are “treated” for past traumatic experience, counselled through their pain, anger and hurt. They are taught about calmness and to be in peace with themselves and the surroundings.
The home provides medical attention, regular health check-ups and de-worming, supplements are given to the children to overcome their malnutrition. However, we are yet have a panel doctor for the Home.
For the past four years, the committee and volunteers have been working towards stabilizing the running of the home, ensuring the basic needs and education of the children are al proper.
Now, close to five years old, Agathians Shelter has begun to reach out to the public, making itself known. In order to enrich these children’s lives, we need more resources. Therefore, we decided that there is a dire need to have a permanent house to root the organisation.
There are programs lined out that needs permanent placement e.g. Computer rooms to expose children to multimedia, tools room to teach carpentry, electronics and gardening to children. We realised that with publicity, the children can also be involved in more national and corporate organised events.
The aim of teaching these skills based training is to guide children to positive use of mind and energy. Also to kindle their talents and interest towards something that would be a future income source.
